Art Classes with Denise Elzea
Fridays                                                  10.00 - 12.00
Main Building

Art classes conducted by Denise Elzea are open to all types of art and experience levels. The core group is currently focusing on rock painting, where the artist brings the rock to life by portraying a 3-dimensional image upon it.

Denise explains that the rock painters “are intrigued by the design challenges in combining the 3 dimensional aspects of their painting with the actual 3-dimensional fact of the rock itself.”

Students of all medias are invited to bring their projects to class. In the past, students have brought in projects in oil painting, watercolors, pastels, and charcoals. The class provides a fun, sharing environment for individuals to bring both their projects and their ideas while Denise assists students to realize their artistic vision.
Cost: $7.00 Per Class

Thursdays:
1:00 – 1:30 Social Time
1:30 – 3:30 Class Time
Main Building

Shirley Bell invites artists in all medias and experience levels to attend her classes. While Shirley’s expertise is in oils and acrylics, over 40 years, students working and chalks and watercolors have also found this to be a productive environment.

Shirley helps beginners to find where to get started and in what medium by starting out with a simple oil painting project.

Most students start in oils as it is the most forgiving medium. If you make a mistake, you can just wipe it off and start over.

Artists of varied experience levels are encouraged to bring in their own works-in-progress for guidance, or perhaps for the motivation derived from a group atmosphere.

Shirley will give a group demonstration when she sees that many students are having difficulty with a particular aspect like shadows or reflections.

It’s a fun and encouraging environment, providing beginners with a chance to experiment and learn, while affording everyone the opportunity to benefit from this interactive setting.
