computer_happy.jpg

Classes currently include a Basic Computing class and an Introduction to the Internet class offered an as needed basis. Simply call the Front Desk (582-0609) and ask to be added to the sign up sheet. We’ll schedule a class whenever we have enough sign ups.

You can use the Lab computers to access your web-based email, for shopping online, to edit or share your digital photos, prepare a resume, homework, research, geneology search- oh so many things.

If you have been meaning to learn how to use computers, now would be an ideal time to get started.

The Lab is made possible through the work of dedicated volunteers, the Community Center staff and a grant from the Four Way Community Foundation.

Hearing Services For Everyone

Audiologist J. D. Howell offers a full range of hearing services to the Rogue Community covering the entire gamut of hearing needs: all types of hearing tests as well as hearing device service: inspection, cleaning, repairing, dispensing and fitting. J. D. is Oregon Board certified and nationally licensed with over 10 years in the field of audiology.

You’ll find J. D. at the Rogue River Community Center on the 2nd Tuesday of every month from 10:00am to about noon, although he will stay as long as it takes to get the job done. Testing or on-site repairs are open to everyone at no charge. J. D. also offers in-home care for home-bound individuals.

Who should get a hearing test?
Everyone can benefit from having one. Hearing is so important to the quality of our lives. The process of hearing loss is so slow that a person may not notice there is a problem until it is severe. A baseline hearing test can be useful as a record of how your hearing is in case of an accident or for insurance purposes. Monitoring your hearing should be a part of your routine health care.

What is a hearing test like?
The hearing exam starts with a series of questions. Next, you’ll listen to a series of tones, left and right ear separately, to determine if your hearing is ok. If a loss is detected, a more complex set of tests is required to pinpoint exactly what the problem is and determine what is needed to correct it. J. D. recommends that you bring a spouse or family member with you to the test. Plan on 15-20 minutes for the tone test. The more extensive test can take 40 minutes to an hour.
